Animal Control
The Taney County Health Department assumed operations of Animal Control services for Taney County in August 2009. The Department operates the Animal Shelter located at 255 Critter Trail, in Hollister, Missouri with a six member staff of Animal Control Officers (ACO) and kennel technicians.
The ACO’s enforce all animal ordinances, respond and investigate complaints, and patrol unincorporated areas in Taney County and the city of Branson.

Our mission is to provide quality animal care and control services which protect the public and provide for animal safety with education, sheltering, and pet placement while having compassion toward all animals.

Lost/Found Animals and Animal Adoption
The Taney County Animal Shelter maintains a site on Pet Point that displays all animals that are currently available to the public. The site includes pictures of animals that have strayed from their owner as well as owner surrendered and those available for adoption. Or, visit Hometown Radio, Pet Connection tab to view animals at the Shelter.
If your animal is not pictured, call or visit the shelter during hours of operation.
The Taney County Animal Shelter is open to the public Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Fees
- Redemption fees
A redemption fee is charged for any animal that has been picked up by an ACO. The owner is required to pay a fee to reclaim the animal. The fee varies, based on the jurisdiction that the animal was found and in some jurisdictions, the fee is paid at their location prior to claiming the animal at the Animal Shelter. - Owner Surrender Fees
Should circumstances require an owner to surrender an animal to the Animal Shelter, a $40.00 fee is charged for each animal surrendered. Litters of kittens or puppies surrendered are charged $10.00 per animal. For more information, contact the Animal Shelter.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs- $85 (includes spay/neuter, one round of vaccinations including rabies, heartworm test and microchipping)
Puppies- $75 (includes spay/neuter, one round of vaccinations including rabies and microchipping)
Adult cats & kittens- $75 (includes spay/neuter, one round of vaccinations including rabies and microchipping)

Inspections
Animal Control Officers inspect attractions or events involving animals to ensure the events operate within the required federal, state, and local guidelines. Health permits are required for all animal attractions, whether permanent or temporary. For more information, please call (417) 332-0172.
