What is Environmental Health?
The Taney County Health Department Environmental Public Health Division conducts routine inspections for food establishments, lodging facilities, swimming pools, spas, massage facilities, body art facilities and all licensed and license-exempt childcare facilities in Taney County.
In addition to routine inspections, Environmental Health Specialist respond to complaints, fires, natural disasters, truck wrecks, emergency calls and other investigations that occur in Taney County.
In partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (MDHSS), childcare facilities are inspected annually in accordance with the MDHSS Child Care Sanitation Inspection Manual.
All indoor and outdoor public pools, spas, hot tubs, and therapy pools are inspected and permitted annually. Routine inspections are completed in accordance with local Taney County, city of Branson and city of Hollister ordinances.
Food establishments are inspected and permitted in accordance with the 2009 FDA Food Code. Food establishments are inspected on a routine schedule, based off risk factors including food handling, the menu, and the complexity of prepping procedures. The health department works to ensure that food served to the public is of the highest standard, free of food-borne illness and safe to consume.
